Henry Thomas Plummer was born in Dalham on 30th April 1892, (Newmarket Q2-1892 3B:524), baptised in St. Peter's, Moulton on 28th August 1892, son of Henry and Annie PLUMMER (née MERKIN).

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at Brookside, Moulton, with his father Henry PLUMMER [32], farm labourer; his mother Annie [32] ; brothers Albert [5] Ernest [3]and Alfred [1 month] and sister Lily [7]. His mother was born, like him, in Dalham, the rest of the family were born in Moulton.

1911 census...Aged 18, a labourer, he was still at Brookside with his parents (father now a coal merchant), with brothers Albert, Ernest and Alfred. Sister Lily was a servant of Charles Pym at Banstead Manor, Cheveley.

When he emigrated to Canada is not yet known.

His younger brother, Ernest died in Belgium in November 1917 see here

He enlisted in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada on 5th August 1915. He gave his date of birth as 30th April 1892 and next of kin, his mother, Mrs Annie Plummer of 39 Brookside, Moulton. His Army number was 151883 ( CWGC seem to have amalgamated two soldiers details under number 136117). He was single and gave his occupation as fireman. He was 5 feet 6 inches (167.6 cm)tall, chest 32" to 34.5" (81.3 to 87.6 cm), grey eyes and light hair, Church of England. He had the 1st finger of his left hand missing.

He went missing during an attack north of Courcelette and was then presumed dead.

the reverse states that he was exhumed from Miramont British Cemetery 3/4 mile north of Courcelette in 1920. CWGC concentration card says he was found in the area shown below. This may well have been because Miraumont British Cemetery and Courcelette Road Cemetery were actually scattered graves on either side the road from Courcelette to Miraumont
